LDSA Building fund

Help LDSA “build” the future of democratic socialism in Louisville!

Currently, the LDSA rents space in Shelby Park’s Smoketown Collective, alongside several other groups. We host upwards of 100 meetings and events every year, some of which attract dozens of members. It’s a tight fit at times, as far as scheduling around other groups’ meetings, let alone accommodating our own members. As of now, our meeting capacity is 40 people even though our chapter has 400+ members (and growing!). It’s only a matter of time before we outgrow this rented space.

Purchasing a building is not cheap and with that in mind, LDSA is embarking upon a long-term fundraising effort by establishing a dedicated Building Fund, maintained separately from our general chapter funds.

Will you help us secure the future headquarters of LDSA so we can become a local political powerhouse in Louisville?

WHY WE NEED OUR OWN BUILDING
To accommodate more members, more comfortably for large events such as the General Meeting
To avoid the scheduling conflicts with other groups that we currently experience
To hold multiple standing committee meetings or breakout sessions of larger events at once
To host a wider variety of social events, more often, and transform the space as needed
To fully establish a socialist library and study, along with other special spaces as they are suggested
To have sole access to the kitchen and bathrooms, spaces we are currently sharing with other groups
